The town of Le Conquet, the “port at the end of the world” is situated 25 kilometres to the west of Brest, and is the maritime town of the Pays d'Iroise. Its glorious maritime past can be seen throughout the town, in its stones, in its “English-style” houses, its old port, its shops, etc.Le Conquet has preserved its maritime identity and today is one of the leading ports in Finistère, reputed for its seafood and its noble fish. Some 40 boats are equipped for coastal fishing.
This identity is reinforced by the presence of shipping companies carrying passengers and goods to the islands of Molène and Ouessant.
In addition to its urban character, with its dense and ancient town structure, made up of narrow alleyways, piazettas and stone walls, Le Conquet has the added advantage of possessing vast and open natural areas, comprising dunes, beaches and an aber (the ria)...These areas are listed and protected and offer a particularly interesting variety of flora and fauna.
Its rich heritage and range of activities make Le Conquet and the surrounding area a special, well-reputed holiday destination, with a wide and varied choice of accommodation and numerous shops and services.

Brief history
A rich and prosperous town since the 10th Century, Le Conquet was subjected time and time again to visits of a - at the very least – malevolent nature from the Normans or the English. On 30 July 1558, after being pillaged by an Anglo-Dutch flotilla, the town suffered such destruction that it was unable to recover its former prosperity, especially in terms of trade, apart from fishing, which has continued ever since.
